Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about how Cal Core works.

How does Cal Core calculate burn time?

We use the MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) formula: calories burned per minute = MET × 3.5 × your weight (kg) ÷ 200, adjusted by a fitness-level factor. We then divide the calories you entered by that per-minute rate to get the time shown.

What is a MET?

A MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) compares the energy cost of an activity to resting. Sitting quietly is 1 MET. An activity at 6 METs burns roughly six times as many calories as resting for the same duration.

How accurate are these estimates?

They're general estimates based on standard MET values and your weight and fitness level. Actual calorie burn depends on many factors — metabolism, body composition, technique, terrain, and more — so treat the numbers as a useful approximation, not a precise measurement.

Does my fitness level change the result?

Yes. The optional fitness & activity level setting applies a multiplier to the base MET calculation, since a more conditioned person typically burns calories at a different rate for the same activity.

Do I need to enter my weight, height, and age?

Only weight affects the calculation. Height, age, and gender are optional and currently don't change the result, but help us tailor future versions of the calculator.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Everything you type into the calculator is processed in your browser and never leaves your device. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Is Cal Core free to use?

Yes, completely free, with no account or sign-up required.

What activities are included?

A range of everyday and exercise activities across categories like cardio, strength, sports, and daily movement — each with its own MET value. Browse them on the results screen after entering a calorie amount.
